• Festival of Faith brings in 33,000 strong
Representatives of the Catholic Diocese of Orlando announced that the first-ever Festival of Faith, which was held this past May at the Orange County Convention Center, attracted more than 33,000 attendees. The gathering was a celebration of the Diocese’s 40th anniversary, as well as the spiritual summit of the Year of Evangelization proclaimed by Bishop Thomas Wenski.
The faith-filled event included 28 inspirational choirs; a concert by popular Catholic recording artist Matt Maher; a wedding anniversary Mass, at which 4,200 people renewed their wedding vows and celebrated the sacrament of marriage; a Catholic film festival with seven uplifting films; more than 200 exhibitors representing churches, schools, ministries, spiritual movements, religious orders and Catholic-related vendors; a special dinner banquet; and more.
While the event was free to everyone who attended, the Diocese of Orlando asked people to bring canned goods and peanut butter that could be donated to the Catholic Charities Agape Food Bank and Mission Office healthy breakfast program in the Dominican Republic. In total, nearly 10,000 pounds of food were collected during the Festival of Faith.
